Scratch Programming has been developed to meet the interests of younger students. In this course, school students will be introduced to fundamental programming concepts. Students will learn how to create animations, computer games, and interactive projects using Scratch, a graphical programming language developed at MIT. At the end of each course, students create their own projects and share it with their CodeSimba instructor and classmates. No previous programming skills are required. We will teach students how to use a computer and browser and managing files. Students do not need to purchase any software or textbook.

Basic Schedule:
Week 1 – Introduction | Students are introduced to coding and how to use the Scratch interface. |
Week 2 – All About Me Collage | Students create a fun and interactive collage to teach their classmates about themselves. |
Week 3 – Animate a Name | Students choose a name or word to animate with sound and music. |
Week 4 – Code your First Story | Students use animation to code a story of their choice. |
Week 5 – Pitch your Passion | Students create an interactive presentation/story about an idea, activity, or item they feel strongly about. |
Week 6 – Make a Quiz | Students learn how to code a quiz they can use to quiz their friends. |
Weeks 7 & 8 – Choose your Own Adventure | Students will create a choose your own adventure story based on the user’s input. |
Weeks 9 & 10 – Sprite Catcher | Students create an interactive sprite catching game. |
Weeks 11 & 12 – Maze Game | Students create a game to guide a sprite through a maze while avoiding obstacles. |
Weeks 13 to 16 – Final Project | Students create their own final project using coding concepts they learned throughout the course. Students present and share their projects with their classmates and CodeSimba instructor. |
